Yes, I admit that I felt some envy from those of you having a 35mm Flekto...
So I got mine, a 35mm 2.8 "aus Jena". Click here to see on Ebay
Received today, nice status.
That's my first 35mm. I expect to use it heavily.

Will show the first shots as soon as I get rid of the works tyranny...

Congrats! This is a very nice sharp lens, but you need to count this is single coated and need to adjust contrast on every picture if weather is not ideal.

Ok, thanks Attila. I'll take it into account.
I like the close focusing (upto 18cm.).

Jes., I got the bug too and succumbed to the same 'aus jena' lens about a couple of months ago. Shipped by a nice gentleman to US from Austria. Love it's sharp performance so far but do occasionally experience the low contrast mentioned by Attila. I thought my lens was bad. Thanks Attila. Even when I have the Tak 4/50 preset macro lens on these days, I still carry the Flek in my pocket and use it for some close focus as well as 35mm shots. It's sharp as claimed. Enjoy it!

I don't have the MC 2.4/35 version to compare but I read that some prefers this zebra version more than the MC because it's single coated. I still wonder why. Maybe someone with can shed some light into this.

@ Jes:

Get a hood for the 2.8 - it'll help a lot.

@ bawang:

Single coating doesn't suppress flare as well as MC and results in lower contrast which some people prefer as it helps to give a "period" feel to an image.

And welcome.... Smile

Bob, thanks for the clue!
I assume I have to get a hood for every lens I get... Wink.
Also a good UV filter could help...

Bawang, Welcome to the forum!

Not necessarily - if you want a low contrast look for a particular image then don't use a hood.

Unfortunately unlike filters where you can get one size of filter to fit the fattest lens in the kit and use step-up rings for the smaller lenses, no one hood can adequately cover several focal lengths.

If you find you need lots of hoods, it might be more cost effective to make them out of thin card or plastic, painted matt black.

Thank you.

The lens used taking this picture is a vintage Minolta (AF) 75-300 also know as The Big Beercan. Build like a tank but excellent image quality, colours are very pleasing to look at.

Very Happy

Rumour is that the beercan series 70-210, 75-300 and 28-135 are made by/ or together with Lecia, as a prestudy before launching Minolta top G series.

Today they are great value for money.

The nickname "Beercan" is of course because it looks like one.
