Film camera look...

I love the look of "old" rangefinder cams. The M3 is most beautiful, but also my FED-3b, my Oly 35RC or my Hi-Matics are really pretty.

There are only some digital compat cams that resemble the classical camera look, e.g. Canon G9, some Ricohs or the nwe Sigma.

And I really love the looks of the old Canon G5:

Somday, I will buy a used one, just for the looks...

These new cams unfortunately are very expensive, so I played around a little and screwed a hood for a Leica Summicron into the hoodthread of my Kodak DX7440. Well, it helps...

It does not have the real film cam look, but the hood moves it a little closer. And it looks even better than on the photos... Wink

I think the Epson R-D1 looks most like a Leica. I haven't looked at its spec, I just know it's out of my price range Smile

Indeed, Peter! This R-D1 is - apart from the M8 - the only digital rangefinder you can buy, but really, really expensive!

Luminous Landscape review of R-D1

I do sometimes look at old cameras like the Nikon F3 and think how good it would be to have that sort of immediate, physical interface to a digital camera (which is a point made by this review also).

of the tiny p&s's, I like how the Panasonic FX series mimicked the old Leica style - similar contour. Both my daughters have one and yes I'm slightly jealous.

It doesn't look like a film camera, only echoes some of the first Leica style.
