Fibers in the viewfinder?

I was shooting with my pre-war Contax II today, and something strange happened to the viewfinder.
One moment, I was shooting and it was perfectly clear. A few moments later, like, one minute later,
I grabbed the camera again for another shot, and, some strange fibers (like the fringe of a torn cloth)
appeared in the upper right corner of the viewfinder.
How, and why, totally escapes me.
What are those? Any idea? Removable?

well you probably will have to live with it, as the cameras I own you would need to take the top off the camera to clean...some cameras are very easy (to take the top off).
Side tracking a bit, another thing that can appear on shots is the small blurred line seen in the edges of the pic, well I had this and it was a small hair stuck to the opening behind the shutting mechanism. Rolling Eyes

Unfortunately, I agree. The top cover must come off to deal with them. I'm not too familiar with the innards of the Contax but maybe felt strings were used in light sealing the viewfinder. Here's a link for a disassembly: http://elekm.net/zeiss-ikon/repair/start.html It's certainly not written by a Contax expert but it's an OK place to start.
