I just bought a Nikon FG and 3 Nikkor Series E lenses. 35/2.5, 50/1.8 and 100/2.8. They're not in great condition. I'd rate the lenses 8+/10 and the bod 8/10 but everything is still quite useable. Looks like they were all purchased as a set and the seller told me that her father (a NASA employee) purchased them when he retired in the 80's. Oh... and got the whole kit for $95. Adding to the collection as I can...

Chris

nice buy. Looks don't matter, only the glass. Those are the three best E series nikons, as I am sure you know, and I am also sure you will do great things with them.

@ Orio... Oh, maybe 20 now? I don't know, have not counted in a few months. OK, never. But I rarely count the numbers, just collect and see what I can produce. Guess another 2-3 hour trip to the studio is in order...

@ Atilla... The MIR was just removed for the 35/2.5. BTW, the MIR24 spent the last 3 weeks on and off (but mostly on) so I could get a full feel for its abilities. I like it! Thanks again for the addition to MooreFotos collection.

@ Bill... As soon as I can. I didn't know there was a 35/2.5 out there, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that one.

@ Patrick... Thanks man. Just another of my beliefs of "right place, right time" coming true.

@ Elan... The 35 is mounted and will be my first out tomorrow, and for the next week at least. I've found that leaving the lens on the cam lets me experience a lot of what the lens can and can't do. Gives me a better feel for what it can achieve. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh... I see what you're saying. They are Nikon lenses. But all the same, they have an F-mount. And for this I'm a happy/healthy camper!

OH, forgot to mention... None of them had front caps, but all had rear caps and filters. Also, the 50 & 100 had original Nikon rubber hoods. I've never seen the HR-5 for the 100, so that was an additional treat! Looks like a hard commodity to find these days.

They're all nice performers particularly the 100mm and I'd love a hood for mine, as veiling flare when sun is close to the frame is the lens's only real weakness (not that it's terrible). I like the 35mm, it's a good solid performer, and from the last time I used the 50mm that performs almost as well as the other Nikkor standards. I posted some test shots of the 35 and 100 E's on the gallery (and the 28 which is good enough, if not outstanding). I need to find a cheap 135 E to complete the E primes...

Congrats Chris... I also bought three E-series lenses (100/2.8, 35/2.5 and 50/1.Cool and Nikon MF camera as a part of a lot. Never able to try 35mm lens, and somehow found Oly 50/1.8 lens better than Nikkor 50mm. So 50mm is rarely used.

And about Series E 100mm f2.8, thats just superb.. more prone to flare esp is front-side light situation (more than other lenses in this range), but top notch resolution and great colors rendition...
