Samyang did not care much about patents in the early days Smile.

Fellow member nukemall has an interesting article about Samyang on his website -

Google translate leaves a lot to be desired, but I think he concurs with Pancolart's view.

Out of curiosity I recently bought a set of gear just for these three 'bastard' Exaktars.
35mm 1.2.8 is marked 'lens made in Korea'.
135mm 1:2.8 is identically marked.
Both are absolutely identical cosmetically to Your lens.

50mm 1.2.8 is 'lens made in Japan' and it is also cosmetically bit different, very likely comes from different plant.

These are all M42 and auto-only lenses with generic and similar to each other back and front caps with no brand markings on caps at all.

I guess we have the whole line covered here. 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 135mm.

Any sample shots from these? I'm curious if they render anything like the old Exaktar lenses.

Several years ago I bought what looks like the same lens under the Carenar brand with a Topcon mount. I've never used it.

Agreed. A bit mushy opened up but stopped down a bit, looks ok in crops. It has character anyway, even if one doesn't like the character!
