Not being satisfied with the last Exakta->PK adapter, I had another try.

This one is made from the same type of M42-PK adapter as before, and a plastic Exakta rear lens cap (was from an old Tamron).

Here it is mounted on a Ludwig Meritar.

The top of the cap was cut off and the outside filed so that it could be tightly screwed into the M42 thread on the M42-PK adapter. A hole was drilled and tapped and a shortened screw inserted to hold the two pieces together. For good measure, I added epoxy while I was screwing it all together. I do NOT want this getting loose.

The big advantage of this is that Exakta lenses can bayonet into the lugs in the cap. This is much easier to remove than the last one.

I formed a piece of Styrene plastic to stop the mount rotating, and this keeps the lens firmly attached. Thats that white piece in the first picture.

To remove the mount, one removes that plastic piece with pliers, and then the lens bayonets off easily.

I walked around all day today with the Biotar on my shoulder, and it was as firm as can be. I was taking lenses on and off the Pentax with no problem.

With the Biotar 75/15 -

The next step is to use an aluminum rear lens cap, for even more secure mounting.

Yet again I am awed by the dexterity and ingenuity of one of our members
