I'm not quite a football fan but from time to time when the national team is playing I watch the game (if I can).
Till now Romania made two even scores with the world champion (Italy) and second place holder (France). The hardest game seems that is still to come.
Anyway, here are two shots from today (during the Italy-Romania) of the fans watching tthe game Smile

My opinion?

The final match will be: Holland - Portugal, if Italy does not proceed to the quarter finals. If they do, the chances are high that they go through, and even perhaps win the championship.

Italy is old team Carsten. Our players gave the best two years ago, now they are declining.
Holland is younger and much stronger than everyone. I think Holland will win this championship.

Two great matches today, the best so far. I think Holland will probably beat Romania in the next match (sorry Cosmin) so it's a straight winner-take-all fight between Italy and France for 2nd place. The World Cup Final over again!

I just do not understand why we're not there. Sad

There's a long way to go before I'll stick my neck out. Spain, Portugal and Croatia are playing brilliantly, Germany will get their act together as usual, and it looks like Sweden, Czech and either France or Italy will be in the mix. But Holland do look good, don't they? According to Ruud van Nistelrooy on the BBC website, they have even surprised themselves.

Yes, but they are very clever and experienced. They somehow manage to score a goal in the last minute of an important match and go through, even if they were not the better team. They do no play the most attractive football, but they are very efficient. This is one of the reasons why some people do not like them - quite similar to the German team. Wink

haha Razz
Don't worry we're not going to win the championship. We are not playing well and we don't have the top players either. Puyol is the only one working and playing consistently very well. The rest... some spend whole matches running up and down the field, some try to pass the ball instead of shooting when near the opposite goal, some fail every damn pass, and so on... We will go to the quarter finals but not to the semifinals imho.
