Very nice picture. I remember once playing in a concert and there was an old Chinese man playing this instrument. We called it a Chinese violin. Only two strings, with the bow threaded between them, and the soundbox is a big empty gourd. Fascinating. _________________ Lenses: M42 - CZJ 2.8/20, 2.4/35, 1.8/50, 2.8/50, 3.5/135 - Meyer/Pentacon 1.8/50, 2.8/50, 2.8/135, 4/200

Haha, many young people (and old ones) don't like my euphonium either!
Soullivan, I enjoyed very much watching the Olympics from Beijing, it is much more beautiful there than I imagined. And the buildings and the general organisation was fantastic - well done and thank you to all concerned! _________________ Lenses: M42 - CZJ 2.8/20, 2.4/35, 1.8/50, 2.8/50, 3.5/135 - Meyer/Pentacon 1.8/50, 2.8/50, 2.8/135, 4/200

Thank you very much indeed, Jules! You are a very special person!
I'm in a totally different league to David Childs! But I once had lunch with his father, Bob. He was teaching at a conductor's workshop and in the afternoon we had a short jam session. I ended up playing the top part of the Pearl Fishers duet with him.

Thanks Peter,
I'm kind of a brassoholic though I don't play any brass instruments, and I especially like the more unusual ones, Sacbutts, Fleugel horns, and others.
David Childs has the fastest fingers on the Euphonium that I've heard. Probably the fastest in the world. You played with Bob Childs, whew that's like playing with YoYoMa, Segovia etc.
Cheers
