Sometimes I bought for "too" low price, seller simple didn't send it and he said sorry after to weeks and refund purchase price. Based on this experience I always ask seller if winner price is too low he willing to sell really.

I had some problems with sellers and now when I exchange messages I use only ebay mailing system to write/respond to the seller. It help me win any claim in situation when seller is not honest.
As a buyer before writing a feedback to the seller I check first how often he avoid to write feedback to the buyers. Lately I met several sellers who don't care to leave feedback. It is a bad practice and there are no way to push seller to do it. I think that sometimes is better to avoid "unpleasant" seller even he/she offers "hot" merchandise.

Always use the ebay mail system to ask questions, especially if the seller asks you not to. If something seems strange, ask lots of questions. If the answers seem strange, do not bid. Try to ask your questions so that the answer would be yes or no, if you do not get a yes or no answer do not bid.

You might miss an occasional good deal, but you will definitely miss a lot of bad deals.

If you find something interesting try to negotiate the price with the seller. Especially when the item is "hot" and common situation would be that first bids will be done in 2-3 days and all "wise vultures" are watching and waiting. Post your request in "Want It Now", send the link to the seller and ask him/her to make you an offer. I know that it works in many cases. Usually seller makes price "buy it now" lower. All you have to do is set the time, go to his/her listing and refresh the site - to be the first bidder in auction "Buy it now".
