I didn't publish any samples taken with this lens, it was really bad looking to me. _________________

That nikon zoom is legendary for being a dog. The E series are an old "cheapo" range using (then new) plastics and they would not label them "nikkor". As far as I am aware almost the only good lens out of that range is the 100/2.8, although it is still a piece of lightweight plastic it is optically very good.

The 50mm 1.8 E is optically very good (just needs a hood), as is the 135 E. The 28 & 35 E's gave the sort of performance I'd expect, not up to the Nikkors but far from bad. Supposedly the 70-150 E zoom is optically very good for a zoom, but suffers from an over loose focus/zoom ring.
What gets me is the build quality of the Nikon E's might be plastic, but they're better made than today's consumer Nikkors and even had metal lens mounts... _________________ Richard

I have the Nikon-E 70-150, and it is actually very nice (not that my standards are very high). It also doesn't feel like plastic (though parts of it are), its quite well made. _________________ Pentax K100D, SV, SP1000, SP500, LX, SF10, Mamiya 1000TL, Sears/Ricoh TLS, Exakta VX, VXIIb, Olympus OM-10, Nikon FM, Zeiss Contaflex B, Retina Reflex S, IV, Rolleiflex, Speed Graphic & Meridian 4x5, misc. rangefinders and folders, several dozen lenses and etc., et. al., ad infinitum. |

Send as registered, signed-for airmail. Declare as gift, and put also a gift certificate into the box. This help to Klaus to not pay tax.If you insure, perhaps he need to pay tax based on insure value. In my experience , registered, signed-for air-mail is fast, secure way to transfer lenses to any country. _________________

I can verify that - Attila's individually sent me a Sonnar 180 and 300 neither of which are exactly svelte and both took a week max. to travel from Hungary to the UK.
IIRC the 180 may have been even less - 5 days. _________________ "The badger winks twice before the cheese explodes!"

My two Takumar 28's are decent enough lenses - one a Super the other a SMC. Very similar to the SMC-A 28/2.8, in resolution and color rendition. None of these is a WOW lens: they are quiet and just get the job done without too much fuss. For a lens afficionado this sort of behavior is sort of disappointing: we're looking for that feeling of amazement. But I can verify that the resolution is actually very good indeed and they do not fall apart in less than ideal conditions like many lesser lenses do. _________________ Camera Fetishism:
