Would love to have your thoughts on this lens... can it be fixed? I know that it is merely aesthetic, but could it be returned to its original condition, and how might it be done?

Thanks in advance!

Your first post gets all of its pictures removed (anti-spam feature) so I took the liberty of quoting it. Welcome to the forum!

On topic: That looks pretty severe, what happened to it? Soaked in seawater, dropped in a vat of acid? If the "gunk" is some sort of residue it can probably be cleaned off with alcohol or some sort of petroleum-based solvent. If it´s caused by the paint being stripped off, I think you will just have to live with it.

You have no idea how many times I pressed edit to try and fix it... the preview looked fine! Many thanks.

Do you know what is the lens condition?
Apart from paint discoloration it looks ok to me.
This ring can be repainted - it may not look as good as new but it just an aestheticall issue.

Lens looks to be in full working order. Will be testing before buying.
The only reason I ask about fixing the discoloration is that I plan on adding it to a set which I rent out... so wish it to look in mint condition.
