I went around to Poolhalls yesterday to deliver a lens. Stayed for a chat and compare of gear. Hes got a pentax system so I was interested to see how similar the CY and K mounts are. It seems they are almost identical with a small section on the CY body side conflicting (iwas comparing my cy eos adapter to it) I am sure a little grinding of the mount would allow mounting. So I am in the market for a cheap/broken Pentax K _________________ LENS LIST |

I still think a P30 is best bet but might be worth looking for any Chinon, Cosina or Ricoh body as they all had the K mount too, and some of the Russian later Zenits I think are K mount if you can find one. Thanks for the evening Bob btw very enjoyable! |

I'm confused , is that a lens or camera you need? I have a broken Pentex-M lens you can have Bob. _________________ Peter - Moderator |

If using C/Y lenses on film camera is your goal, why not go for a Yashica camera instead? They are native mount (so no risk of lenses falling on the ground(, they are correct register distance (difference with Pentax is only about half millimeter, but yet there is, and it could be visible in wide angle lenses), and they can be as cheap as other Pentax K cameras. _________________ Orio, Administrator

Sorry if I did not make myself clear. I would like to adapt a cheap pentax K body to accept a CY lens. I think it will be possible by grinding some of the Pentax mount away but I am not sure. The lens registration is almost identical. If it is possible then a modification to a pentax mount may allow for mounting of CY lenses (but not affecting any other lenses.) I just need a disposable body to practice on.
HI Richard, (poolhall) good to meet you last night! I may have to get one of those zenitars now _________________ LENS LIST |

Sorry, I can't help then, but I hope I'll soon be able to check if a Pentax K lens will mount on a C/Y camera! _________________ Peter - Moderator |

I'm reluctant to butcher my Samsung ... I prefer to adapt lenses, cheap ones that is Just in the process to adapt an Olympus 50mm to Pentax-K or M42. |

Great links - Thanks.
I'm working out how to use c/y lenses on an sd14 which is a PK mount in disguise - although the register is 44. So these have made interesting reading. _________________ Film... and sometimes SD14, 5D2 and some other suff! |

Interesting I had never really considered the sigma as a candidate for MF lenses. Maybe we could start a thread on here similar to the other manufacturers.

How similar is it to the K mount? _________________ LENS LIST |

It's identical apart from the registration distance.
I've been using my Tamrons on it with a PK mount which focus just past infinity which isn't a problem with their close focus ability. I have an M42 adapter... but that's it! The registration is the same as canon eos but the 'throat' is narrower, so the only option for other lenses is changing mounts on bodies and lenses. So I've been doing some reading, but hadn't come accross this one yet. _________________ Film... and sometimes SD14, 5D2 and some other suff! |

With the idea of making a Contax K10D eventually? Sounds good to me. _________________ Dave - Moderator
