I have had little experience with this lens. Up until the last couple days I thought I would probably sell it. Well, I have done a pretty big trim of the kit and this is now keeper. The desicion was never about quality. The lens is quite valuable and for me not being a zoom user often. It is a luxury. Well enough blah..... blah...... Here are a couple snaps in macro mode (1:4). Open and F8 with crops 40D iso400 Handheld. Probably should have used a tripod. Please lend an opinion. Looks pretty Zeissy to me.

Man, based on these, I would call it a keeper. Nice and sharp, with good out-of-focus falloff! And yes...there's a bit of "Zeiss-ness" about these images...dimensionally excellent, actually. Shocked Even the big white thing on the right of a couple of the images fades pretty much into oblivion with the nice bokeh characteristic of the lens.
