The light was overcast this afternoon, but I wanted to see the close
focusing capabilities of this lens. The cat was not cooperating as he had
his own agenda of where to go today Laughing But I'm impressed with the lens' abilities, if not my skill.

Me too. Wink The sun was breaking through the clouds a little when I
took the cat pic, which caused some flaring (got to get a rubber hood
for this lens) but the leaf pic was in full overcast light. Plus the leaf wasn't
moving as much as the cat! Laughing Like the bokeh in the 2nd, too. Both
pics were at f5.6

hi Bill, the Flek 35mm is very good at closeup, although for this specific task my preference goes to a Russian lens, the MIR-24 (35mm f/2), which has the best bokeh I ever saw in a 35mm lens, Distagon included.

The second picture is perfect, in the first one I think there is something funny going on with the shadows, I see a strange violet dominant in the shadows.

I changed the color cast a little, but still see some weird stuff going on.
Just a bad pic with wonky light.

As Orio said, great lens for short focus distance.
As 90% of focusing ring/scale, its very easy to focus at short distance.
Today, while sitting outside, saw the bee sitting on yellow weed...
Handheld... Captured @f5.6, some sharpening...

100% crop,

I think these are a little better:

taken at f4

He was taking a nap on a rug in the house and I interrupted his slumber.

And the second one in greyscale: "I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. De Mille." Surprised

I like it best, too, gave it a little more spark. But they are still not sharp
photos... Sad

Last one is very impressive. If I were a mouse I would run far far away from the monitor... Very Happy
