The hurricane yesterday decided to visit the north of Portugal - hope you guys are well there.
So no pictures from the angry sea. Instead some pictures I've taken one month ago, after a clearing storm from my favorite beach.
Lens Distagon 15mm f3.5, cam 5D

Not all the time, 110° FoV is hard to expose perfect (but even harder to compose Smile).
I don't like HDR, that's why I take two exposures for difficult scenes, one for the sky and one for the rocks, like a ND grad filter but without filter. Wink

Some dramatic pictures Sandy, which I like a lot.
15mm gives quite some FOV, but an excellent lens!

Amazing shots! Very well done!
I really like those, they are pro!

15mm on fullframe! Wow!

I do the same Twisted Evil ! I find it better than ND grads, much finer control if needed.

Yes, absolutely, and why should I put another piece of glass (or plastic in worst case) in front of my lens? Very Happy

Thank you Attila, nothing serious happened here, the Tornado went more over the north. I hope our members from the north of Portugal and Spain are well!

stunning series, carlsson!

i found out, that the 3.5/15 Super-Elmar-R was made by Zeiss and that it is supposed to be the same optical design (except the coating). is that true? and what would be a reasonable price for a 3.5/15 Super-Elmar-R?

Thank you.
Yes, that's true and I think it's true for some other Zeiss lenses too.
The price is the same, at the moment ~1500 Euros in good and ~2000 in very good condition. Not a bargain, and I would prefer the original lens Smile
I think the D15 is a collectible lens, only 1056 have been made. And there should be not more than 1055 lenses left - because I have wrecked one last year Crying or Very sad

One of our members owns a Super-Elmar 15, don't remember his name, but he was the guy with the incredible Leica collection. You better don't search for the thread! Wink

Or get the Pentax 3.5/15mm which by a "pure coincidence" (LOL) was also from the hands of Prof Erhard Glatzel,
ZEISS' design head in the 70ies. My good friend Marco Cavina found out about this secret:
http://www.luciolepri.it/lc2/marcocavina/articoli_fotografici/15mm_Zeiss_Pentax/00_pag.htm

Top shows the Pentax design, bottom Prof Glatzels patent paper ... coincidence?? I don't think so...
