The fastest lens made for the Contarex system. I got this lens for less than average price due to internal scratch and haze on one of the element.

Just like most other Carl Zeiss lens made in the same period, the build quality is excellent. This lens behave similarly to the other 5xmm F1.4 made in the 1960s. Please refers to the sample photos below for more details.

My experience with Contarex is very similar to yours.

Nice rendering of 7/5 scheme 55/1,4 Lena.

At F/5,6 is. by far, more sharp than the planar 50/2.

Overall, more contrast than sharpness. Borders less sharp than the planar 7/6 scheme.

Your pics have the tipical rendering of contarex planar, and are very good ones.

Yes. Contrast is very good even my copy has haze/internal scratch. It is sharp enough when stopped down.
