Nice samples!
I used to have the black barrel version of that lens, but it wasn't even half as sharp as yours. Actually, to be completely sincere, it was quite a lemon. The only thing great it had, it was a terrific bokeh. But not enough to keep it, so I sold it. Really it is my impression that the 70s made standard lenses such as Tessar 2.8 from Jena were really produced without any concern for quality. If I had to buy another 2.8/50 Tessar, I will surely choose an aluminium version.

Yep, but yours is good, mine was bad, I read of another guy complaining about it, maybe another one was happy... too much copy variation, this unfortunately is the problem of Carl Zeiss Jena in the Seventies, but while top of the line lenses like the Sonnar 180 or 135 were very much cared for, these cheap lenses such as the Tessar were just released without any consistency in the quality. Confused
In any case, the good side is that they are so cheap, that if you get a bad copy, you can just buy another one and not even notice the loss. Laughing

Orio - beautiful small Tessar Smile My cousin has similar lens - old Industar 3.5/50 (pancake, alu finish). You're right - your Tessar is probably the father of this Industar.

BTW.

OT: The Tair-11A is a 5 element lens, but I don't know how many groups.
Probably similar to this design: http://www.praktica-users.com/lens/mlenses/morp2.8_135.html

Tair 11-A has 4 elements in 3 groups... I found this scheme:

Sorry for off-topic Embarassed

hmm... 4 elements... double thick concave glass in the front... if this is not a Tessar scheme like my guess, well, it comes very close!
