Hi All,
Hoping someone can help me out here, I got a Zeiss 200mm/2.8 that's been mistreated so there are problems but my major problem is I cant find a obvious way in!
There's some fungus at the back but can't seem to find a way to open it, I've had a good look around here & the net with not much turning up, does anyone have a disassembly guide or any info to help for this lens ?
I've linked some pictures below & as you can see there is no 3 screws on the base (like the 180mm has) there are/were 2 for the aperture pin (they were missing on arrival, but can replace)
This one really has me stumped, any help would be very much appreciated.
Also even with the problems it's a great lens, lovely bokeh & very sharp wide open (can't close aperture, yet!)
Thanks

What kind of camera mount has this lens?
Found this, but there are those three screws:
http://forum.mflenses.com/czj-200-2-8-sonnar-opening-for-greasing-pictorial-t33437.html
Whats inside the back end - is there a tube for stray light supression. Could this be removed - probably you could get from there toi the screws? _________________ Camera modification, repair and DIY - some links to look through: http://www.4photos.de/camera-diy/index-en.html

Hi ZoneV,
Thanks for the reply
It has an M42 mount
I think it does have a tube as it seems to have a bit more on the bottom than the other link you posted, the only screw on it anywhere is on a non-moving ring towards the bottom just above the tripod mount in the picture
I did take this out & try to unscrew the end but there was no movement at all & I didn't want to put too much force until I found out more about it, as said above it has not been well cared for so it could just be stiff but I didn't want to push it too far until I know I was trying at the right place. Also the bottom bit (top right in picture, the next part up from the arrow) does seem like it can be removed as it is a separate part that is sitting into a groove. It's very strange every one of these lenses I've found online has the 3 screws in the end ???
Thanks again for your reply, very much appreciated _________________ Nothing's impossible! |

Yes, this ring with the screw looks promissing
But I fully understand that you don´t want to work with much force or rust-remover. _________________ Camera modification, repair and DIY - some links to look through: http://www.4photos.de/camera-diy/index-en.html

I have the Meyer Optik Gorlitz 200 / 4 that also needs some repair - http://forum.mflenses.com/meyer-optik-orestegor-200-aperture-problem-t62079.html
And Gonzoo suggested that the 135 Pentacon is a similar construction and this repair tutorial might help, I looks very good but I haven't tried to disassemble mine by following it yet, but it looks as though it could be a good guide.

Thanks for the replies ZoneV & Lloydy I'm starting to think that one & only screw is the way in, I'm going to have a good look over it again at the weekend & have a look through the 135 Pentacon although that does look like the 3 screw thing again, I'm starting to think those 3 screws are underneath the bottom piece ? I suppose it's good I got such a rare version of this lens but at the moment it isn't feeling that way...
I really appreciate all the advice & help, thanks a million for that I'll have a go & probably be back in on Monday saying "there's still no way in" so if anyone has anything else they would like to add please do!
Thanks! _________________ Nothing's impossible! |

I'll have a go at repairing most lenses, but I'm not keen on going inside this Meyer Optik lens, in general it's in excellent condition and perfectly useable, it just doesn't stop right right down. I think I'm not getting f 16 and 22, I can live with that.
I will probably send this lens for repair to Newton & Ellis in Liverpool, they have been recommended by a lot of the dealers who sell stuff at the Wolverhampton camera fair who send a lot of old classic lenses to them for repair. I'd rather not risk wrecking a nice old lens to my amateur skills.

Hey ZoneV,
It was that screw & ring! they were just very stiff but a bit of persuasion with a rubber grip got it moving, disassembly was quite easy from there, the glass cleaned off nicely & cleaned the aperture at the same time, lots of lubricant in it & a the switch had moved, I gave it a clean through and put the clip back & it popped back into life
Gave the whole thing a good going over & now it's like a different lens, can't wait to get it out for some proper shots!
Thanks again ZoneV & Lloydy for all your help and advice, it's great to have a 2nd & 3rd opinion, much appreciated _________________ Nothing's impossible! |
