Need help, is this the "Zebra" version? Serials number 732xxxx. Seller says it's Pentacon 6 or Exakta mount, I believe it's the M42, probably Pentacon 6 with the M42 adapter. Thanks!

hi,
yes, it is a pentacon six lens with m42 adapter. the zebra ring is the beginning of the adapter. the focus ring is original, but be aware, it is very fragile. these versions also have very often a defective aperture (easy to repair)

I think this version of the lens is called "Star Wars". But the adapter comes from the zebra version. |

A very attractive looking lens. You could also use that adapter for other P6 or Exakta 66 lenses which can often be picked up inexpensively. I got a Biometar 80 a while back for 39 dollars. _________________ photos are moments frozen in time |

Thank you for all the valuable information!!
I will be very carefully on using the ring, probably not use the lens often because its massive body , but for $85 I couldn't reject. I remember a review mentioned it's an early zebra version I think it must be wrong. The SN shows it's a 1965 product, the zebra lenses were made bit later. I may look at the Biometar 50/4 and 80/2.8 too if see a good deal.

I bought this lens along with other no - name lenses for £55 from an auction site. It appears to be the Carl Zeiss Jena 180mm f2.8, but the front of the lens only says "Jena" without mentioning Carl Zeiss. From the seller's pictures, which are the only details I have, I'm trying to determine the mount type. It doesn't seem to be an M42. Is it a medium format lens?

Don't know about the mount. I do remember Aus Jena, and Jena-zoom marked lenses for a quite brief period from the late 70's or early 80's, but have been unable to find out much about them. I roughly recall seeing lenses before that were marked as shown in the link, but know nothing about them. The Aus Jena line seemed to be aimed to compete with the then popular Japan 3rd party lenses, and were priced similarly.

Thanks Doc
I had a look online with no luck too
Although I could see an exact copy that has the full Carl Zeiss Jena marking. I now think the mount is pentacon 6. |
