I don't think it's underrated, I followed several copies lately on Ebay and they all sold for around 100 Euros, which is a price near to the value of the 2.4 version.

I actually have that lens, and it is sharper and nicer then my Flektogon 35 f/2.4.

I hoped this answer, my first copy has haze so my test wasn't ideal , second copy is perfect just I didn't tested yet. Many times I realized from same lenses older are better than MC version.

I can't find right now the direct comparison between the two Fleks, but I spent one evening comparing all my 35 mm lenses, and at the end my Flek 2.8 and my Takumar 3.5 were among the best. The Flek 2.4 got eliminated during the initial tests.
Here are some comparative shots:

Thanks. It seems that the 35mm Takumar is a very sharp lens all over the frame and at most apertures. The Flek 2.8 seems to have the typical characteristics of the 2.4 version: soft wide open, and soft corners, but decently sharp once stopped down.

Yes, actually 35mm Takumar is my best 35 mm lens. I would be curious to test it on the full frame, but I will never find the time to do this test...
