I don't remember the name of the Nikon eyepiece, sorry
But it should be the standard one, for all cameras like FM2 etc.
I mounted it on my 400D
The one thing you have to verify, is if the size of the eyepiece of the 350D is the same as that of the 400D.
If it's the same size, you can buy it safely. If it's a little smaller you can put something inside like paper, to make it fit. Of course if it's bigger it's a problem.
Don't expect miracles, however. It helps, sure, but it won't turn apples into oranges.
Also the price to pay for the magnification is that the borders of the view become a bit blurred (because of magnifying lens).

I understand.
No, the Nikon one is much smaller, it can be easily disguised as a normal eyepiece.
Nikon folks... anybody here who can help with the name of the accessory? _________________ Orio, Administrator

The picture you show is the Canon Magnifier S, which I use on my 30D, and I just checked - it fits on a 350D as well.

Himself, for what it's worth, the Pentax clip-on magnifiers fit Canon too. I have a similar one to the one you posted a pic of. I think it's from the Spotmatic era - it just says Asahi Pentax on it, but crucially, it has the square section clip-on fitting which slips perfectly on the eyepiece groove. _________________ Dave - Moderator

Thanks Dave, I'll keep an eye on that one too.
I know also, that Minolta magnifiers fit Canon too.

Hard to say, with no figures written on it, but I'd guess at nearly 2x.

Somebody here used an Olympus eyecup on a Canon on a post a few months back. Points to the magnifier fitting too. Can't recall who it was, offhand. _________________ Dave - Moderator

I've used an Olympus EM-1 (or ME-1 ?) viewfinder eyepiece magnifier on my former EOS 350D. I had to shave some plastic part behind the eyepiece in order to let it go down fully. Magnifying factor is 1.2x.
But I have heard that the Pentax O-ME53 fits better and is nicer to use, and has better corner to corner rendering - and best of all, it's half the Oly's price ! _________________ Switching from M42 to Minolta MD & Contax/Yashica |
