My two favourite Vario-Sonnars are working fine, as expected (35-70/3.4 and 100-300/4.5-5.6).

Sneaky peak with the 100-300:

I wont to buy canon 6d, so I m interested does some of the lenses hits mirror on this camera:
CZJ Pancolar 50 1.8 M42
Zeiss Planar 1.7 50 Y/C
Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 4 25 M42

The Planar will be fine with a high quality adapter, not sure about the others. If they work on a 5D, they will work on a 6D.

Carl Zeiss Jena Prakticar 35/2.4 MC (PB) - lens will now mount (unlike with the 5D), but mirror hits at all focal lengths

I was just about to pull the trigger on the M42 version of this lens when I stumbled on this thread. Does anyone know if it has mirror clearance issues too?

Also, is there a way of programming the 6D to pass on MF lens info to EXIF as you can with the Nikon D600?

Cheers,

The 35/2.4 Flektogon M42 version is fine. The PB version is a problem because of the mount, not the lens.

You can't program exif for MF lenses unless you buy a programmable EMF adapter. Note, check with the seller whether the EMF adapter will work on a 6D, as my older adapters won't function on it.

Hi All,

My 6D is on the way. What brand c/y-eos adapters do you all have that have found success with? Anybody tried the 60/2.8 s-planar yet?

Thanks

If my 60/2.8 s-planar will not work on a 6D, then I'll pass on getting one. As it is, I am waiting for a price drop.

agwathome I use Big-Is c/y-eos adapter from ebay and I m really satisfied whit it.

I've always found the adapters from seller tesarphoto to be of high quality. My big_is adapter broke and damaged the Planar 50/1.4 attached to it Sad

Tesarphoto hasn't got any on sale at the moment, but they look like this:

This like look nice adapters. Big-is is nice low quality adapter. Usually better quality adapters for c/y have aditional spring-plate that secure lens to not moving

Leica Elmarit-R 28mm 2.8 E55 version does not work on Canon 6D. I tried, but at focusing distances above 1.2 meters it hits the mirror.

Damn! Elmarit 28/2.8 was in my wish list after camera upgrade... I thought all Leica-R lenses were ok with EOS-FF...

My C/Y 28/2 AEG and 135/2 AEG work on the 6D via a cheap Fotodiox adapter.

But my 50/1.4 AEJ and 35/1.4 AEG do not... the mirror gets locked up.

This is quite frustrating. Just as frustrating is that I've bought some Leitax adapters for these lenses, but in both one of the 3 screws on the bayonet is impossible to remove and so I can't use the Leitax. I am worried about stripping the screw also.

I bought a new #00 screwdriver to try. If this doesn't work, does anyone have any ideas?

Also, how exactly does one "shave" the mirror of the 6D? Any instructions online?

Edit: I managed to mount the Leitax on the 35/1.4 (simply by not screwing one of the screws), and now it works on the 6D.

I tried the same on the 50/1.4, which did not work still.

Try a better quality adapter, the 50/1.4 AE should work fine.

I tried both Leitax and Fotodiox adapters on my 50/1.4 AEG, and it still hit the 6D mirror. Or rather I should say the mirror wouldn't flip back down until I unmounted the lens.

I just tested my 28/2 AEG again. Near infinity, the lens also blocks the mirror.

Is it just my 6D?

Can anyone recommend a good Leica M adapter for Voigtlander lenses on my 6D? Looking at the 12mm, 15mm, 21mm f4 Skoper and the 35mm f1.4 classic.

I'm quite sure you wouldn't be able to properly use rangefinder lenses (either than macro mode) on a SLR body due to different flange distances.

P.S.
A question has been asked regarding the maximum distance from the lens mount to the rear lens element - does anyone have the info?

Hi chaps,

I don't know the 6D, but last time I had a look at the Canon line-up (primarily the 1Ds), with the goal of switching systems, I discovered that you had to sacrifice spot and matrix metering when using a split-image matte screen -- is that still so?

Correct, you can't use rangefinder lenses on SLRs (unless you want a macro lens).

I just got a 6D and have tried my lenses on it.

These work and do not hit the mirror at infinity:

Helios 44M 58/2 M42
Helios 44M-4 58/2 M42
Helios 44-2 58/2 M42
Helios Auto Wide Angle 28/2.8
Sigma Mini Wide 28/2.8 M42
Super-Takumar 50/1.4 M42
Super-Takumar 105/2.8 M42
SMC Takumar 55/2 M42
Pentacon Electric Multi Coated 29/2.8 M42
Pentacon Auto MC 135/2.8 M42
Pentacon 135/2.8 Zebra exakta mount
Jupiter 9 85/2 chrome M42
Jupiter 11 135/4 alu M42
E.Ludwig Meritar 50/2.9 M42
Meyer-Optik Oreston 50/1.8 M42
Auto Chinon Multi-Coated 55/1.7 M42
Auto Chinon 28/2.8 M42
RMC Tokina 28/2.8 M42
Industar 50-2 50/3.5 M42
Nikon Series E 100/2.8 F-mount (probably all other Series E)

These do not work:

Auto Yashinon 50/2 (old version, f=5cm) M42 - mirror locks at infinity during shot
RE. Auto-Topcor 58/1.8 Topcon - with my current big_is Exa-EOS adapter it locks the mirror after the shot is taken. Hopefully a better adapter can solve this issue
Meyer-Optik Lydith zebra 30/3.5 - hits mirror near and at infinity
Meyer-Optik Domiplan zebra 50/2.8 - hits mirror near and at infinity
Mir-1 Grand Prix Brussel 1958 37/2.8 - hits mirror at infinity
Super-Takumar 35/3.5 M42 - hits mirror at infinity

Hi everybody ... does anybody could please tell me if my 25 distagon -45 mm -50 mm - 135 mm will work on a canon eos 5 or 6d ?
if yes which is the adapter the lens will work with ?
Will the camera exposure meter work ? will the camera automatically detect the aperture ?
Please let me know something precise , 'cause i would like not buy an expensive camera body and then see that i cannot do anything with my "gold" lenses .
Bye and thanks to everyone of you will answer me !
Marko

The 25/2.8, 135/2.8 and all variants of the 50mm Planar are fine on the 5D and the 6D. the Tessar 45/2.8 AE works on my 6D for short distances but hits the mirror at longer distances.

The camera will set exposure but you will need to set the aperture yourself on the lens as the camera has no way of controlling a manual lens.

I buy adapters from ebay seller tesarphoto.

ok thanks a lot for your reply...
Let me please ask you something more ...
i will set the exposure on the lens by myself but will the camera see that i closed at e.g. f16 ?
Will the camera close the lens when taking a pic ?
in other words will the camera be fully operational with a manual lens or it will work only at f2,8 (base aperture) ?
Please ... i do not want to buy a 6d and waste my money .
Thanks
M.
