Hi, I'm very new here...
And I'm also pretty new in MF photography as well.
I thought this forum would be one of the best place to ask for these advices.

First, I've thinking of getting a backup DSLR for my 5D, and was considering either EOS450(Xsi) or OM-520.
Considering the lenses that I have, which would be the best choice (could be other than what I mentioned)?

The next advice I need is on a film camera.
Although I'd love to try Large/Medium format, my finance and skill are not up to it.
But, I'd love to try film photography. Considering how low the cost is for film camera, I thought it's good time to buy a nice film camera.
Which one should best fit my lense layout?
I was thinking perhaps Leica R and Canon EOS-3...

BTW, following is my lense layout.
(I've bought them all used... )

Canon 5D
Leica R 28/2.8 ROM
Minolta MC Rokkor 58/1.2 (2 of this)
Volna-9 (on the way)
CZ 35-70/3.4
CZ Planar T* 100/2
Leica APO Macro 100/2.8
Leica APO 180/3.4

Welcome to the forum. Congrats you have a nice lens kit started. My opinion considering your lenses so far is to stick with Canon for DSLR and Film. I'm guessing you will do a mount conversion to use the Rokkor 1.2/58. Maybe consider only doing one of them and sell the other to a Minolta film guy. It seems that this lens will not be found with it's native mount for long. Many folks are converting it. Shocked

welcome Paul
on popular photography eos450 is first and om-520 last on a 5 dslr test (<900$)
the eos3 can be found very cheap, it's a nice camera and will be compatible with your lens

Thank you for your suggestion....
What would be the best Canon film camera?

I thought I could buy Leica R6 or R7 to see the full potential of the Leica lenses I have...

BTW, the two Rokkors are all converted already... Embarassed
They are beautiful lenses....

Hi and welcome!

What a great set you have! Wow!
And I think that your suggestions are pretty good: EOS450D and EOS3, perhaps you can save some money with an EOS 50 - I think Orio is selling one at the moment, perhaps you can contact him.

A Leica R cam would of course be great, but they will go for much more than the EOS cams - and the difference you could invest in other fine lenses. Wink

BTW, if you happen to sell one of the Rokkors, let me know... ok? Wink

I'm actually selling the lens....Not cheap though.
$500....

I did the conversion with Pete Ganzel.

I'm not good with fixing things.... Embarassed

Thank you everyone...
I hope to learn a lot here, and perhaps in the future give back that knowledge to a newcomer like myself.

Actually, someone who shoots with such a nice gear cannot be a real "newbie". Wink

Do you think you can post some pics of the lens (glass, barrel and mount) and shot with the lens?
