|
|
I want to see if it was possible to design an adapter from C/Y to Minolta AF, but I haven't got any C/Y lenses, so here is where I need you C/Y lens owners help
I have read that the bayonet diameter is 48mm, but it doesn't say how that was measured. So if one of you C/Y lens owner would be so kind to provide me with some measurements, and perhaps some images to aid explanation?
The thing is if the outer diameter of the lens bayonet is 48mm, then it just clears the inner diameter of the bayonet on Minolta AF body. And the fact that the register is the same as M42 also means that et clear the aperture pin. I wouldn't be the strongest adapter since two of the claws of the A bayonet would need to be shortened. _________________ M42:

| I can confirm the 48mm although I am using a cheap plastic caliper to measure so +/- a bit maybe. Michelle has a minolta maxum film camera. When I compare the two mounts it looks like an adapter is not possible. The only option would be to remove and replace the c/y lens mount with an "A" mount or m42. So in other words permanent mount replacement. |

Perfect, thanks
The main idea was to redesign how the claws is attached to the adapter such that there would be room for the C/Y bayonet, making them kind of L shaped down in the body. This means that two of the claws have to be shortened a lot and the construction itself wouldn't be as strong. Does this make sense? I have sketched it but haven't got at scanner here.
The inner diameter of A mount and outer of C/Y mount both being 48mm might mean that some sanding is needed of the C/Y mount of perhaps 0.05mm. _________________ M42:

It still sounds a bit tight. I hope maybe you could purchase an inexpensive yashica lens to experiment. If it was not for the expense of shipping I would happily donate a spare ML 1.9/50mm I have. I am very curious about this process with adapting for Sony. It is my belief that Sony will introduce some very interesting (read....affordable high performance) full frame cameras in the next couple years. I hope you keep us posted.

I went to the local camera store today and they had a Yashica ML lens that I tried to squish into the Minolta. It's tight indeed, but so far it look like the pin (aperture pin?) that is sticking out from the lens mount is not in the way for a potential adapter.
If this could be done and perhaps Nikon/OM without lens element, the upcoming FF Sony with sensor based image stabilization and a rumored sub $2000 price tag would be a godsend for MF _________________ M42:
