Sounds like it needs a mirror adjustment and replacement bottom caps -- or gaffer's tape -- and it would be good to go.

The F1 and FTN also had interchangeable focusing screens. As the description mentions the type of focusing screen, I suspect it is not the original, factory installed one. If the focusing screen isn't seated just right, this will produce focusing problems.
