I found this:
| Quote: | | The other thing that surprizes me is the serial number - I thought at KMZ it was always linked to the year of production. Apparently this is not the case for the Helios-44. My lense has number 4601xx, yet it must be from the end of the fifties or beginning of the sixtees. |

Any ideas? My reserves ran dry
Other early CCCP lenses (I checked my Jupiter-3, Jupiter-8 and Jupiter-9) have corresponding SN / manufacturing date... why is Helios-44 a exception? _________________ for sale: Vivitar (Komine) 55/2.8 Macro 1:1 (K/AR) | CZJ Tessar 13,5cm f/4.5 (M42) | Vivitar 35/1.9 (M42) | (Carl Zeiss) aus Jena 1Q Biometar z. 80/2.8 P6

Here's a thought. My 44 was made by 'MMZ' which didn't begin making lenses until 1957!
Perhaps different manufacturers had different ideas about serial numbers? _________________ Film... and sometimes SD14, L10, 5D2 and some other suff! |

The first two serial numbers denoting the year of manufacture does not apply to MMZ-make lenses. They used a different system. _________________ I've been doing a lot of abstract photography lately, extremely abstract. No camera, no lens, no film, I just think about it.
