Hallo!
Canon EOS 1D - crop 1,3 - what is with the fokuscontroll?

Is the system able to give green light, if the center is sharp, like pentax?

regards Peter

Hello Peter. Unlike Pentax, all Canon AF lenses have a chip which connects to the camera's electrical contacts. The chip holds the lens EXIF data and also activates the AF control in the camera. So to get the AF green light with MF lenses on a 1D you would need to use an adapter with an AF-confirm chip. You can now buy the chips separately, for glueing onto lenses and adapters, and on some you can store the focal length data.

Is it possible to take another diffusing screen with splitt picture instead of this chips?

It isn´t my way to buy this canon for using old lenses, but I have so much and I would test some lens on the D1

The motivation to buy this old ferrari is the ability to make sport pictures by using the full AF - funktions.

Thank you for answer

regards Peter

Peter, it should be possible to change the screens in an old 1D.
You can get screen from several companies. Just start a search here...

Yes, I think Canon sell "official" optional focussing screens for the 1D, like Orio has for the 5D. These will probably be a lot better than the cheap third party screens we use on the 350D and 400D.

I use a cheap split image screen on the 400D, but the AF-confirm chip is much more accurate.
