PostPosted: Fri Feb 29, 2008 1:41 am    Post subject: Anyone having an EXA 1A user manual? Reply with quote

I've gotten recently a nice EXA 1A with three lenses, a Meyer-Oreston 50mm 1.8, a Domiplan 50/2.8 and a CZJ Tessar 50/2.0 and also a nice 1x8 multiplier.
I've been looking into the net for a user manual. I found one at Butkus, but in polish, it's not understandable to me.
So if any kind soul has got an EXA 1A user or service manual, I'd appreciate having the opportunity of taking a glimpse on it...

I'm also looking for the service manual for the EXA500. It came without the shutter locking lever, the shutter is cocked and cannot be fired, and the shutter speed wheel quite loose. A challenge to fix it!...

Thanks in advance,
Jes.

What about this site -

http://www.in-fotech.com/technical_articles.htm

I know they say purchase of 4 articles @ $1.50 each, I do see Exa listed as well as on the earlier page (hit back-in upper left corner)

ADDED:
What about our own sites links - Exakta/exa is listed ?

Thanks, Jim, but I cannot see any EXA-1A related info. I've seen a EXAKTA RTL 1000 info, but it's a different beast...

@ Jes:

Take the lens off and if the mirror is down, you should see a small tongue sticking out the side of the mirror box and holding the mirror - use a toothpick to push the tongue back to release the mirror and the shutter should then fire.

This works for all the Varex/VX etc. bodies and the Exa 500 might be similar.

Or....

I can't remember if the Exa 500 has a timer, but I had a VX1000 with a stuck shutter and it was the governor on the timer being stuck that prevented the timer from running and thus the shutter from firing.

Thanks a lot Bob!. I'll try it tonight when I arrive home.

Jim,

Many thanks for your efforts Smile
But unfortunately I don't. Neither anyone close to me.
I also got the manual in Polish. No way anyway.
I'm trying to figure out from the pictures.
If anyone else needs it, please just ask.

Jes . . . (Ya I'm persistant Very Happy )
In the tech pages I've posted some sites with manuals.
Would the one for the EXA 1A be similar to Kine-exakta? I downloaded a pdf copy - message me if you want it.

Don't know how much checking you've done (but I'm a sucker for problem solving Very Happy ), so there are afew with manuals listed for EXA 1A but all are cost so here they are . . .

Some sideways thinking here....

What about the Focal Press Exakta camera guide?

These books covered a range of cameras within a marque and provided both general and specific instruction where applicable.

Mr Butkus to the rescue:

http://www.butkus.org/chinon/exakta/exakta_35mm_guide/exakta_35_mm-splash.htm

The Exa 1a is included. Wink
