Spit -- the ultimate enzymatic cleaner. Maybe not! What enzymes will eat the fungus then disappear?! Iirc, our fearless leader kept some lenses as parrot toys, which the rich environment of bacteria and enzymes seemed to prevent lens fungus.

cutting short through the bends ... most enzymes just do nothing to fungi for the simple reason that all enzymes are not created equal and very few act on the whole organism as such unless they attack a vital part of the organism like some very specific enzymes can attack the cell wall of some specific bacteria ... but that won't help at all for cleaning lenses ..
.. and as Lavoisier once said ... "Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed." ... ergo, use something, one needs to get rid of it ... Wink
