Sometimes I can't resist - well maybe I could but today I didn't. I bought a case (heavy) with a Nikkor-Q 400mm f/4.5 (heavier). Hauling this around should save me some money, not having to go to a gym.
It should be fun to test this one against more recent designs, such as my apo-rokkor 400/5.6, sigma apo 400/5.6 and sigma apo tele macro 400/5.6.
I was just starting to reduce my collection a bit (I've got some lenses listed in the marketplace section). So if anyone has this lens high on his/her wishlist, make me an offer I can't refuse. I'll post some pictures of the lens and the results of the aforementioned comparison as soon as I have made some time for it, which may take a while. |

Hi Dick ! (it's Dick, isn't it ?)
Congrat's ! It's a rare and old lens.
I have it also, long and heavy, very nice quality made, including focusing unit to mount interchangeable head lens.
A recent thread about it : http://forum.mflenses.com/the-beast-and-the-beasts-nikkor-q-400-4-5-t5797.html
I'm curious about the serial number as it could be the coated version (mine isn't). _________________ Switching from M42 to Minolta MD & Contax/Yashica |

Hi Florian,
Yes it is Dick alright.
My lens is coated, but there appears to be a differently coated version, the Nikkor-QC. Mine's just Q, 410500. It has the model 2 focus grip, so it looks completely different and you need this one for your collection as well...
I haven't seen any of these for sale (what would be a reasonable price?), so it must be one of my rarest Nikkors. Then again, I don't have that many Nikkors to begin with. A few odd ones though (macro-nikkor 19,65,120, printing 95/2.8). Come to think of it, the 400mm is my only normal Nikkor at the moment, the rest have prefixes, all EL- apart from the ones mentioned before. |
