I have been looking for this lens for sometime now. They are always priced very high , and also rare especially if you're looking for it in a particular mount. Well that's partially over because I just bought this in OM mount. The glass is super clean , no marks. The zoom is smooth, focusing ring is smooth, and the aperture ring moves beautifully.
It has a crack along the 2 screws on the focusing ring(there's black tape over it -which seems to hold it together well enough-you can see it in the last image.),I will have to fix that somehow.

congrats! and welcome to the club! Smile

I have got this lens in FD mount

I have done stupid thing by selling the Angenieux 35-70 with the hood ..

I should keep the hood at least! Smile

This lens has a great colours and exceptional character.

Mechanically is not a masterpiece but optics are fantastic

poilu, Attila, trifox:

Thanks indeed , my luck turned for the better when I spotted this at a local consignment shop and I was able to negotiate the price to something affordable.

Kathmandu = here you go..

See that screw? Go for ALL - you have 3 to unscrew -- do not loose them!!

do not worry - there is nothing to be worried about - do not do any marks - it is not necessary!

Put simply the barrel down - there is no thread -

You need to unscrew the ZOOM barrel -- only 2 screws - don't worry and do not do any marks again - it is not necessary

Pull the barrel away -- and..

do the same with the FOCUSING barrel - 2 screws again -- do not do any marks - you'll put it back very easily.

use SUPER GLUE - and see my previous crack -- it seems to be common issue with this lens

let me know when all these jobs done - I'll show you how to put all parts together - if you're unable to do so.

Thank you for the excellent/detailed fix information-I appreciate this greatly. Its nice to know that it comes off easily. The gluing will definitely be cleaner this way.
I am also looking around for a rubber grip ring that I may put over it, after the gluing and screwing back-A grip ring similar to the rubber grip off thermal coffee cups.

Cheers

Hi Trifox,

Thank you for posting it. I did the same crack repair on my Angenieux 70-210/3.5 (on focus ring). When I was trying to put them together, I found there are two pairs screw holes (2X2) on the body for both the focus and zoom rings (show on your picture #5 & #6). I didn't know which one shall be chosen. Then I chose the left side pair (for both focus and zoom rings). Now seems working fine. What's you experience with this matter? Did you choose the left-pair holes as well?

Cheers,

David

Great idea. Have you found the rubber grip ring?

Best,

Wow. Lens porn.
The thing is, I don't really like Angenieux lenses per se (the way they look), but the fact they're such magical pieces of glass make them so intriguing!

Has anyone got this fix in pictures still? I have the same cracked focus ring and I'd like to fix it.

Thanks
