Affordable repair service in Europe wanted

Hey,

from time to time I buy a lot of photographic equipment. Some of it I keep, and some things need to go. Most of it is in quite good condition, but other things need small repairs. Haze cleaned, light CLA on bodies, etc... Having this repaired in Belgium or its neighbouring countries has become uneconomical. The stuff would either be have to be sold at a loss or be tossed in the bin. Both options are a pity. Is there any repair service in Europe that has reasonable prices and takes international orders? Needs to be able to work on mechanical camera's from the 50ies to the 80ies (Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Minolta...).

Best regards,
Steven

The "sticky" posts at http://forum.mflenses.com/equipment-care-and-repairs-f6.html might help.

I always ask what is the goal please? If I may, the typical mflenses member cleans, & repairs equipment themselves, partially because of the "problem" you have described -- finding economic service Wink -- but mostly I think for the fun. Smile

So, there probably is not any service meeting your economy criteria for cheap lenses, but there is the weighing of worth and cost to determine if fixing a lens is worth the while...

The other option is/was to spend less at outset, weigh worth before purchase, yes? Smile

Prices in EUrope usually forbid this, as economies have bettered quite a bit over the years. You may find someone in countries with lower wages, but shipping cost will offset the effect soon...

Do it yourself would be my advice too. Wink

Thanks for the replies so far. I should have stated that I live in Belgium, Europe myself, so bulk shipping a few things is not that expensive. I was thinking along the lines of Slovenia, Croatia, Poland... Perhaps a local repair man is a better solution.

Tinkering myself is timewise simply not an option atm.

As for buying too much stuff, most things were package deals, really, where people simply wanted to get rid off them. I pick what I need and the rest has to go.

Ebay seller "Cupog" sells repaired/CLA'd cameras and lenses, he has low prices for CLA'd items I'd expect his rates are affordable.

I have no contact info but you could send him an ebay message.

I don't even know for sure if he offers repair service but I doubt he'll turn down paying work.

I've bought a couple of CLAd film lenses/bodies from him and they feel like new.

When I can consider the amount of knowledge, skill, time, tools, spare parts one needs to work on wide variety of bodies against fairly low prices of film cameras I can't see how it can't be cost efficient. Same for zoom lenses.

It's simply the hourly wage for manual work that is prohibitive here. Thanks for the tip on cupog. Most of these guys have a local repair man they use.

I used to send Russian stuff back to a local repair man, so I figure there must be someone.
