It seems that the infinity stop on my bargain-basement Zoom-Nikkor 80-200 is two or three millimetres past infinity. Is it possible to adjust this?

Here is a shot of the moon taken last night at infinity stop. 1/400s, f/8, ISO 400

Here is the moon a little later, focussed so that I was at the midpoint of the positions where the focus confirm light was on. This was maybe three millimetres before the infinity stop. 1/320s, f/11, ISO 400

I see a service manual on sale here

Quote:
#90277 - 80-200mm F4.5 Zoom Nikkor Auto Lens (1973 /1976 /1982), 108 pages, fully illustrated in English & Japanese, $25.

but hopefully this adjustment does not involve a full dissasembly, just moving a screw or something.
