|
|
Lat Friday I spotted a Polaroid Land Camera 250 on local ads, and rushed out of the office to get it. I was rewarded with a mint example, with very clean Zeiss finder and perfect bellows, complete with flash, 10 flashbulbs, and a large leather black case with "Polaroid" discreetly embossed in white. I converted the battery chamber to take 3xAAA and took a few test shots to check exposure and focus.I love packfilm cameras...
Fuji FP-3000B shot around the house, and the last one Fuji FP-100C Silk at our Monumental Cemetery.

Orio, the actual image area is 2 7/8" x 3 3/4" (7.2 x 9.5 cm), including the white borders it's nearer 9x12. There's also 4x5 film, but it's much much more expensive.
The better models for 100 packilfm, like the 100 and my 250, have glass triplets and are all metal, the ones ending in 50 have a huge Zeiss combined vf/rf, the others a split vf/rf. All are full automatic cameras, except the very expensive 180/185/190 that have Tominon lenses in regular LF shutters. But with some effort you can fit a cheap Polaroid back to almost anything: old 9x12 folders, DIY cameras, etc. you just need a lens that covers the image area. _________________ My galleries

Now you got me regretting I sold my 250 and left just the 100, I had them both too but 100 was cleaner, the 250 had some battery leak. _________________ AF: Canon, Tokina, Sigma Video: JVC GZ-MG275E

The only difference is the Zeiss vf/rf, which is very easy to swap. Keep your eyes open for a viewfinder or a totally broken camera, and with some patience you should have one to fit on your 100. _________________ My galleries

There was a lot to like in many of the Polaroids.
I have a pile of the roll-film models, picked up for nothing. These all have fine coupled rangefinders, very sturdy folding bodies and unit focusing mechanisms, and seemingly indestructible bellows. With a good lens and shutter plus a film back they make excellent large format rangefinder cameras.
And of course plenty of people convert them for that use, for 120 or 4x5 film. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |
