No it is not Noctilux, much affordable ones.
Not same day shot, so the colour is not same.
1.Konica Hexanon 50mm F1.2 @f1.2
2.Canon 50mm F1.2 L @f1.2
Of course Hexanon is much later design one, its colour rendition is generally
(much) better and also less mechanical vignetting. By nostalgic reason
I bought CANON 50/1.2L, it performs better than I thought. Actually 50/1.2
was more expensive than famous Canon 50/0.95L lens when they were
sold.
My brother-in-law had Canon 7 and 50/1.2L for more than 5 years, I was
using his set almost exclusively from 20 to 25 years of my age. The film
used was 100ft Tri-X pan in a can, which was smuggled(?) from US army
X-depot, I made about 5,000 shots for my twin nephews and some other.
BTW the both lenses are fun to work with, Heaxnon is better but its price
of mine is ten hold more expensive. My general advice is get 50/1.2 if you
need F1.2 lens, get a Canon 50/1.2L. (I won it $250 at eBay.) Otherwise
get Canon 50/1.4L or 50/1.8L, they are both very good. I have C50/1.8L. _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.

I like the Hexanon shot, the colors. But I like Hexanons on SLRs, too!
What cam did you use for the Hexanon shot? |

This is interesting.
Koji as you know I may have a chance at the Hexar lens.
I wonder if you have a couple more frames that show the lens in less challenging situations maybe in low light.
This does show the canon as a much smoother performer.
The konica seems to draw it's lines to tight if that makes sense.
The color is nice though.
Thanks for posting these.
Also which camera did you shoot the canon with 40D? _________________ Moderator |

Probably Canon is better for portraits at or near wide open due to the smoother bokeh.
I have the feeling however (just my guess, supported by nothing) that when stopped down more the Hexar could be more pleasing for contrast and dimensionality. _________________ Orio, Administrator

I have an extensive Canon film slr kit and love my Canon lenses, however, I have to say after comparing Koji's two images, that I'll take the Hexanon lens any day.
I'm thinking here of low-light photography not attempting anything 'arty'. The Konica's dof is so much better. I'm surprised! _________________ camera accumulator and would be photographer. |

Hi,
Two shots in the above was not shot at the same time, nor I did stand
the same place exactly so DoF looks different of course.
Colour from Hexanon is better or at least pleasing, Canon 50/1.2L has
less contrast at wider apertures. Sharpness is not so different, Canon
does well considering its old design. As Orio said, 50/1.2L displays
more like Leica lens somwhow, this is my impression too. _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.
