Not feeling great today, insomnia last night so stayed in and bid on these.
I've decided to start my foundation lensware in Zuiko glass. Rather meager
beginnings compared to Andy's dizzying array, but hey, it's a start:

Attila, it's the 28/3.5, not 28/2.8, still good? It's a G. Zuiko, so 7 elements? |

I never seen any bad Zuiko lenses, mostly slower aperture lenses are good as faster. They didn't do like Nikon faster lenses are pro , slower lenses are consumer. All Zuikos are excellent in my opinion. Non MC version are slighty weaker in contrast , but in many cases this is a benefit not a disadvantage. NON-MC lenses can be produce more artistic images _________________ -------------------------------

Thanks, Hacksaw, the 28/3.5 receives high marks and depending on what
issue of the 50, does as well.

Rippin Deals man Carsten has posted some nice examples from the 3.5/28. The other thing is the 1.8/50 you have is the last version. It has just the word "Japan" on the front ring. This is supposed to be the best of the bunch. I have it and can say it is on par with the ML1.7/50 and thats pretty damn good Aye? Zuiko lenses have one big advantage in adapting to other cams. The lens release is on the lens so the adapter can stay in the cam. This coupled with how small they are makes them perfect for days you want to travel light. If you stack up (literally) a Z 24,50, and 135, the pile will be as short a typical 135 from some makers. The performance is far from typical however. _________________ Moderator |

Andy, thanks much for the info! I really lucked out on these two auctions
then! I may very well have to get an OM series SLR to go along with
these lenses and others I'll be on the hunt to find!
Thanks again,

Well done - you'll have a cupboard full in no time!
The 28/3.5 is excellent - maybe even better than the 2.8. 50/1.8s get better the later they are - in terms of sharpness that is - with the last ones in another league. Those last ones in fact have made in Japan on the rim, but look for a serial number > 59xxxxx as they're the last I believe. They have more plastic and don't feel as good as the earlier ones, but have better glass. Depends on the look you want in your pics of course. They also make very good macro lenses when reversed. _________________ Film... and sometimes SD14, 5D2 and some other suff! |
